E-Waste & Recycling
This policy provides guidance about the secure erasing, reuse and recycling of electronic equipment within our company.
Giant Digital is committed to the protection of health and the environment and is determined to minimise any adverse impacts from its activities. As a conscientious and environmentally conscious organisation, we will inform and motivate all our staff and encourage them to play an active role in Giant’s commitment to its e-waste disposal/environmental policy. Prior to discarding electronic equipment, we will securely erase all confidential material from any devices that store data.
Much of our equipment is leased through an organisation who re-purpose older items and ensure they are donated to organisations in need, such as charities and schools. Any equipment that does not fall into this contract will be either be donated to The Lions Club (who repurpose computers and equipment for schools and disadvantaged individuals) or, where no longer usable, responsibly recycled via a dedicated e-waste recycling organisation close to where the item is located. We will favour suppliers and contractors that are reputable and who adopt best environmental practices.
We will continue to promote, develop and implement waste prevention, reduction, reuse and recycling
in a systematic and cost-effective manner. One particular focus will be to guide our remote team in the safe and responsible recycling or disposal of their own e-waste, and/or encourage them to contact the Technical Director who will be able to advise on the best course of action.
We will continue to use appropriately regulated waste management contractors to ensure safe management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste sent offsite in accordance with best environmental practice.
